Perspectives on School Purpose
(2019-2020)
I had the chance to work alongside Professors Damian Bebell and Steven Stemler to explore what is the purpose of school?
I was hired by the Wesleyan Psychology Department to direct, film, and edit a series of documentary films aimed at analyzing different schools’ mission statements and promoting their use of technology. I had the opportunity to create films on three different high-schools: Foxcroft Academy in Maine, Woodward Academy in Georgia, and North Broward Prep in Florida.
“My Name is Malik”
(2018)
During my freshman year of college, I filmed and edited a documentary film titled “My Name is Malik” in order to raise awareness on the constant struggles encountered by transgender individuals. The documentary’s objective consisted in helping the subject, Malik, grow his social media influence by drawing attention to his story and in raising funds to pay for the medical procedures required for his transformation.
The documentary was moreover featured in the Middletown Press was won the Alumni Choice Award at the 2019 Trinity Film Festival
